| Notes: 1. If a parent has one or more prior child support obligations, subtract all prior child support obligations from the gross income of that parent, before calculating child support for subsequent child/ren. See provision in DWD40.04(1)(serial-family payer). | ||||
2. In split-custody cases, perform separate calculations for each child/ren with a similar custody/placement schedule. Then subtract the smaller obligation from the larger obligation to determine the amount the parent with the larger obligation should pay as support. See provision in DWD40.04(3).
3. These calculations are based on the formulas defined in DWD40.03(1) (sole-placement) and DWD40.04(2) (shared-time payer (When each parent has more than 109.5 overnights of placement).
4. In defining placement time DWD 40.02 (25) includes a note: There are physical placement arrangements in which the payer provides child care beyond the threshold and incurs additional cost in proportion to the time he or she provides care, but because of the physical placement arrangement he or she does not provide overnight care (e.g., payer provides day care while the payee is working). Upon request of one of the parties the court may determine that the physical placement arrangement other than overnight care is the equivalent of overnight care.
